May 2001 - Present:Full time employment with Datalinx Ltd. a company who provide bureau services to the direct marketing industry. Initially employed as an Analyst Programmer I have rapidly moved up the ladder at Datalinx, quickly taking on the role of Senior Analyst Programmer before being elevated again to the position of Research & Development Manager. My responsibilities include overseeing the development of internal systems and bespoke client solutions; day-to-day management of the development team; project management for both the development team and the Internal Network Support team; responsibility for the maintenance of our SQL 2000 servers and weekly reporting to the board. My role here is extremely 'Hands On' and I enjoy utilising my entire skill set to it's fullest potential. I have been personally responsible for the full development of Datalinx's automated systems and internal production tools, along with client utilities in use by some of their Blue Chip customers.
September 1999 - April 2001:Full time Employment with GoData Ltd. As Analyst Programmer. My initial responsibility was to develop bespoke software components for international clients. This developed rapidly into my playing a key role in the redevelopment of their software suite, aimed at the structural steel fabrication industry. My work for GoData Ltd. has included the development of barcode scanning software, purchase order and stock monitoring software with Visual FoxPro 6.0 and the creation of development utilities in Visual Basic and Visual FoxPro, including a file compression utility. The software was developed to run on Microsoft 9x, NT and 2000 platforms and full life cycle analysis using the UML development philosophy. I was also responsible for the co-ordinating the installation of the GoData software suite at international client sites.
October 1996 - September 1999:Full time Employment at DBS Financial Management Plc. My original position was as an IT Helpdesk Analyst supporting the company's own internal systems and others. After 3 months I was brought into the development team. My responsibilities were to develop and maintain various systems utilising Visual FoxPro 3.0 - 5.0 and Microsoft SQL Server 6.5. I was responsible for my own project management throughout the full development lifecycle. These responsibilities eventually developed to include the recruitment of staff to assist with new development projects. The responsibility for managing these projects and updating management on the status of these projects was also mine.
1989 - 1996:A variety of part time positions through my academic career, including plumbing, carpentry, electrics, catering and shop fitting.

I enjoy a healthy social life. I also enjoy walking and camping. A lot of my free time is put towards a live action role-playing group of which I am the group leader, the hobby has also led to an interest in leatherworking and other crafts. My aforementioned interests seem to be in total contrast to a passing interest in robotics. I am an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction, particularly books of scientific or philosophical nature. In addition I write short stories, although none have been published. I enjoy working with my PC at home to maintain my skills in graphic design. I am also attempting to broaden my technical skills to include Visual Basic, ASP and .NET technologies. I am fascinated by languages and have attempted to learn Spanish and Dutch.
